Fulanitos is a range of plush toys from Mexico that has enjoyed huge success in its home country, regularly outselling Disney in certain outlets. Now the company is seeking partners to help bring the toy range to the UK.

Fulanitos began life as a stationery range, but now grace keyrings, mobile phone charms, sports bottles, jewellery, bags, T-shirts, message frames, bedding and plush dolls, and merchandise is available in more than 2,000 outlets in Mexico.

The brand is owned by husband-and-wife team Ramiro Rodriguez and Gaby Moad, who first designed the characters when she was 9 years old. Rodriguez says: "This is our fifth year at BLE. Before, we had a low-key presence, but this year, we want to raise our profile and grab the attention of UK licensing companies. I think our plush toy range will be popular with the UK market, and we are looking for a partner to work with us on this."

The Fulanitos characters encourage friendship and cultural unity.

Moad says: "Children see the Fulanitos as their friends, and the Fulanitos philosophy is that people need people. Each Fulanito has its own name, individual personality, likes and dislikes and favourite things in life, which is why they appeal to children: There is a character with which every child can identify."
