Ape Entertainment plans to release the full-color comic book series digitally through a Fruit Ninja comics app in the Apple iOS App Store, as well as print versions, in the coming months.
“A key goal for Halfbrick is to bring our content to even more fans around the world,” says Phil Larsen, chief marketing officer, Halfbrick. “By expanding the Fruit Ninja universe with new stories, characters and adventures, Halfbrick and Ape Comics are free to explore an unlimited number of creative opportunities for comics and take the brand in even more exciting directions.”
The “Fruit Ninja” app has been downloaded more than 300 million times and now has an active licensing program that includes t-shirts, gummy candy and fruit snacks, toys and games.
The comic series will explore the backstory
"‘Fruit Ninja’ is a mobile masterwork, and we’re very excited to turn every slice of juiciness into a comic series fans will love,” says David Hedgecock, chief executive officer, Ape Entertainment.
