FremantleMedia Enterprises has signed two new deals for Happy Films’ “Bookaboo” that will see the preschool show adapted for both French and English-speaking Canadian audiences.
In the first deal, Happy Films will co-produce a new series in English with Canada’s Cite Amerique for CITV and ITV in the U.K. and CBC in Canada.
The second deal will see Happy Films partner with Radio-Canada and TFO in Canada to produce 26 episodes of “Bookaboo” in French.
Aimed at 3- to 6-year-olds, “Bookaboo” combines puppetry, live-action and CGI animation. The series, originally commissioned by CITV in the U.K., promotes children’s literacy and features a new celebrity guest in each episode.
The Canadian versions of the show will feature Canadian celebrities, including local authors and illustrators.
