Peppa Pig merchandise will start rolling out in the territory in next August, allowing Spanish children, parents and retailers 12 months to become familiar with the series.

Bandai España has been confirmed as the official toy distributor for the region and will be taking Character Options’ range of toys, Ty Beanie Babies and SEI Electronic Learning Aids to Spanish retail. Random House is also on board for publishing, and discussions are now underway with local agent El Ocho for licensing agreements in all categories including apparel and footwear, party, puzzles, games and back to school.

Spain’s national broadcaster RTVE will launch “Peppa Pig,” both series 1 and 2 as part of its Clan Kids Block this month.  Peppa Pig will be shown daily to an average weekly audience of 250,000.

“With both RTVE and Bandai on board we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the Spanish licensing program,” says Andrew Carley, head of licensing at Entertainment One. “Our approach is always to create long-term

opportunities and both RTVE and Bandai understand this fully. Their early commitment once again reflects the growing international appeal of Peppa.”
