Entertainment One has secured the U.K. licensing rights to the upcoming 3D, animated film Justin and the Knights of Valour.
The deal underscores eOne’s efforts to boost its licensing activity by securing merchandising rights to the entertainment properties it distributes.
“Film licensing will be a key priority for the business going forward as we look to tie-in merchandise rights to the eOne theatrical and home entertainment acquisitions that have licensing potential,” says Hannah Mungo, head of U.K. licensing, eOne.
Justin and the Knights of Valour is set be released in the U.K. in August 2013 and has already secured pre-sales in 120 countries worldwide, including Spain, Russia, China, Latin America and the Middle East. The CGI film, from Kandor Graphics, follows a young boy in his quest to become a knight.
eOne will support the U.K. theatrical launch with a multi-media marketing campaign and is now looking for licensing partners in all major categories including toys, publishing, apparel and promotions.
“We’re extremely excited to be presenting licensing opportunities for Justin and the Knights of Valour, which will form part of our slate at [Brand Licensing Europe] this year,” says Mungo. “The property already benefits from a comprehensive style guide to inspire potential licensees, and we’re looking forward to developing some solid licensing and promotional partnerships that will build a strong foundation for the licensing program.”
