Entertainment Rights is to manage worldwide distribution rights across all media for Tiger Aspect Productions’ Tinga Tinga Tales, a new animated pre-school series (52x11) commissioned by CBeebies in the United Kingdom and Playhouse Disney in the United States.

The series, presented at Cartoon Forum in Spain last September, is being produced in Kenya and will be delivered from autumn 2009 into 2010.

The series focuses on traditional African folk lore and is based on the Tinga Tinga art of Tanzania. All images in the series are hand painted by local African artists and then computer animated. Tiger Aspect is setting up a studio in Nairobi, Kenya, and employs local designers, writers, musicians and animators  and plan to keep the studio open after production completes.

The project is spear-headed by Tiger Aspects Claudia Lloyd, who was responsible for Charlie and Lola.

Entertainment Rights chief commercial and creative director Jane Smith says: “Tinga Tinga Tales is a fantastic addition to our global brand portfolio. CBeebies and Playhouse Disney are recognized as two of the leading preschool broadcast platforms globally, and their commitment to the program demonstrates how successful the series is likely to perform internationally, enabling ER to fully exploit the brand commercially across all platforms.”
