In order to combat the growth of downloadable films and theater-quality home entertainment systems, the movie industry is turning to a new dimension—the third, to be exact. Last week at ShoWest, a consortium of Hollywood’s largest studios announced plans to convert 10,000 U.S. theaters to 3D, while leading animation studio Dreamworks said that from now on it would make all its films in the 3-D format.
