Girl power continues to drive tween licensing, and Disney is reaping the rewards with its super-hot properties High School Musical, Disney Princess, and current phenomenon Hannah Montana. You know a property has arrived when it creates a storm of media coverage, and that’s exactly what’s happening with the current Hannah Montana U.S. pop tour. Tickets sold out in minutes for venues nationwide, and angry parents are calling for investigations as to how ticket brokers scalpers were able to snatch up so many of the seats. Even Miley Cyrus, who plays the teen rock star, is upset: Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, says, “She started calling her manager saying: ‘This is about the fans. This is about the kids. I want all the kids to get into these shows,’” adding, “it saddens us because our show is for the fans. Hopefully, they’ll figure this out real soon and by the time Miley does her next tour, maybe they can eliminate the scalpers.”
