Talk to anyone in the industry these days about emerging growth markets, and you’re bound to hear about the vast opportunities in China. Certainly China holds great potential as it opens itself to more international commerce, but licensors and manufacturers would be wise to take another look at Asia as a whole.

In recent, separate conversations with Lucas Licensing and Jeep Consumer Products, both companies spoke of the successes they’re having throughout Asia. And last week, Perry Ellis International announced it entered into two separate licensing agreements for the Perry Ellis brand in Asia, as the company signed an agreement in Korea with Posong Co. Ltd. to develop women's and men's swimwear lines and women's cover-ups, and with Royal Corp. to manufacture and distribute men's footwear in Japan under the Perry Ellis, Perry Ellis Portfolio, and Perry Ellis America brands. The company also signed an agreement with Viet Tien Garment Export-Import Corporation for the Manhattan brand in Vietnam.
