DQ Entertainment Ireland has announced a new 3D, animated feature film based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale The Jungle Book. The project will be the first for DQE’s newly announced feature film division, which has plans for a steady slate of motion pictures in the coming years.

Already in pre-production, The Jungle Book is targeted for 2014. Two additional classic titles are also already in development.

“Our commitment to animated features marks another major milestone for DQ Entertainment,” says Tapaas Chakravarti, chairman and founder, DQE and producer of The Jungle Book. “By leading off our slate with a 3D, stereoscopic version of The Jungle Book, a classic and universally beloved story based in India, our home country, we’re making a bold statement to the industry–that DQE is committed to put the creative, technical and financial resources together to produce compelling, high-quality animation for all distribution channels.”

2011 marked the studio’s first foray into theatrical features with The Prodigies for Warner Bros., Onyx Films and Fidélité Films, France.
