The new 4,800-plus-square-foot stores are merchandised by franchise neighborhoods, where consumers can shop by character or theme such as Cars and Disney Princess.
This year, 20 of the new Disney Stores will open in the U.S. and Europe, and later transitioned to its more than 300 locations. Upcoming U.S. openings will take place in Chicago, Ill., Freehold, N.J., Dallas, Texas, Tampa, Fla. and others. A two-story Disney Store will open in New York City's Times Square this November.
Some highlights of the store concept include:
Disney/Pixar's Cars RideMakerz attraction, where kids assemble and customize their own car, featuring Lighting McQueen, Mater and Sally.
Disney Princess Castle, featuring a child-sized castle with interactive magic mirror.
Disney Store Theatre, where guests can view classic and new Disney entertainment, sneak-peek previews and music videos.
Pixie Dust Trail and Magical Trees lead shoppers throughout the store with changing colors, images and music.
