A three-picture 3-D deal has been secured between Disney and Imax for releases in 2011, including
Cars 2.
The other two 3-D films in the agreement are
Mars Needs Moms
(March 11, 2011), an animation with voice talent from Seth Green and John Cusack, and
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
(May 20, 2011).
Cars 2
is slated for a June 24, 2011, release.
This past weekend, Disney/Pixar's
Toy Story 3
earned $8.4 million at Imax theaters. Since opening, global box office numbers have totaled more than $180 million.
