Discovery Communications has appointed Lee Bartlett to executive vice president of global production management, business and legal affairs. The company has also promoted Bruce Campbell to chief development officer and general counsel.

Bartlett will oversee development of business affairs and production management strategies with day-to-day oversight of programming acquisitions for all of the company's networks and digital platforms worldwide. In addition, he will be responsible for content deals, intellectual property and licensing. Campbell will report to Peter Liguori, chief operating officer. He previously served as an executive at ITV and Fox.

"Having known and worked with Lee for many years, I can attest firsthand to his expertise and skill in managing and negotiating high-level production and content acquisition deals," says Liguori. "Lee's experience and innovative spirit will be a major asset to Discovery Communications as we continue to build our global brands with the highest quality nonfiction programming across our portfolio."

Meanwhile, Campbell has been promoted to chief development officer and general counsel. He previously served the company as president of digital media and corporate development. In his new role, Campbell will continue his responsibilities regarding global business development and will report to David Zaslav, president and chief executive officer. Campbell replaces Joe LaSala, who is leaving at the end of this year.
