Chris Protheroe, president and group managing director of CPLG, passed away at the age of 54 after a struggle with cancer.

Protheroe took over as president at CPLG in 2010 following 10 years as the managing director at CPLG Sport. He joined CPLG in 1999 as head of sports, Europe, where he led the company’s worldwide licensing campaign for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan and Euro 2000.

Throughout his career Protheroe held senior licensing positions at BBC, Sony Signatures, Marvel, Penguin Books and Yorkshire Tyne-Tees Television.

A U.K. native, Protheroe was educated at Berkshire College, Windsor and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
