MCC is an active cricket playing club that owns and maintains Lord’s Cricket Ground, home to a symbol of sporting rivalry, the Ashes Urn. Bequeathed to MCC by former England captain Ivo Bligh upon his death in 1927, the artifact resides in the MCC Museum.
“Following the success of the England men’s team during the past two Ashes Series, it is the perfect time to take this iconic brand outside the gates of Lord’s," says Jon Robinson, assistant secretary, MCC. "Through CPLG Sport, we will now start the search for appropriate licensees to develop Ashes Urn branded products in the build-up to England’s defense of the Ashes in the 2013 Series, in which Lord’s will stage a test match.”
