Plus Licens & Design has appointed CopCorp Licensing as agent for the design property Pippi Longstocking Live-Action in the U.S. and Canada.

"We're happy to see CopCorp Licensing appointed for North America," says Nils Nyman, chief executive officer, Saltkrakan. "As owners and protectors of Astrid Lindgren's literary estate, it is vital for us to work with partners that understand and respect the specific qualities of her work. Plus Licens & Design has proven to be such a partner, and we are confident that their choice of CopCorp as sub-agent will ensure that all the values of Astrid Lindgren's works are preserved."

Plus Licens has already brokered numerous licensing deals for the Pippi Longstocking photo art including posters, postcards and greeting cards from Pyramid Posters throughout Europe and apparel in Zara stores worldwide. Deals are currently being finalized for bedding, puzzles and games.

“Pippi Longstocking is one of Scandinavia’s most iconic contributions to popular culture,” says Peder Tamm, president, Plus Licens & Design. “The charm, reach and staying-power of the classic live-action adaptation starring Inger Nilsson is truly impressive. While the interest in the live-action Pippi art is very strong in territories where the television series and films have been on air, these photographic visuals are so powerfully Pippi that we get stunning feedback also from markets that know her mainly from book illustrations and animation.”

The character of Pippi Longstocking first appeared in books in 1945. In 1969, Olle Hellbom and Astrid Lindgren turned the story into a television series and four feature films. The Pippi Longstocking Live-Action art is based on these four films.

Pippi Longstocking will be featured in CopCorp’s booth (5317) at Licensing Expo, June 12-14 in Las Vegas, Nev.
