CopCorp Licensing chose BLC&EE for its global launch of Fiona & the Funky Pirates, the first ever spin-off property from its Barcode Kitties brand.

“Central and Eastern Europe was among the first region outside of the Americas to truly embrace the Barcode Kitties brand,” CopCorp Licensing president Carole Postal told License Global. “With Barcode Kitties licensees already established in Germany, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovenia, we felt that Brand Licensing Budapest was an ideal place to launch our Barcode Kitties spin-off.”

Fiona & the Funky Pirates are a silly and adventurous group of sea creatures including Fiona the arctic seal and her trusty compass, Captain Fish the penguin and the full crew of a magical ship The FishBone. Like Barcode Kitties, Fiona and the Funky Pirates has been created by Seikodo Corporation of Japan. The Cop Corp portfolio of brands is managed by Plus Licens in the region.

“We are treating Fiona & the Funky Pirates as friends of the Barcode Kitties characters,” explained Plus Licens Brand Manager Petra Sedlinger. “Barcode Kitties licensees are welcome to incorporate Fiona, Captain Fish, Skipper, Dipper and the others into their existing Barcode Kitties product lines or to treat Fiona & the Funky Pirates as a completely independent property.
