U.K. media business Contender Entertainment Group will represent U.S.-based textile design brand Kim Parker Home in the United Kingdom.

The brand, launched in the United States in 2001, took the artist’s bold, vibrant flower patterns to a range of designer rugs, dinnerware, giftware, bedding, bath, fabrics, decorative pillows, stationery and wall art.

This is a departure for Contender, known primarily for theatrical and home video distribution, TV production and distribution, and licensing and merchandising, with an emphasis on the pre-school market. Contender’s head of licensing and merchandising Andrew Carley says that Contender’s business is “identifying attractive licensing opportunities – and that definitely applies to Kim Parker Home.”

“Kim Parker’s designs are works of art in their own right but she has proved that they can transcend their origins without diminishing their quality or appeal. Hers is a design brand that is more than able to take its place alongside the best in the market,” he says.

Meanwhile, Contender’s has signed three more U.K. licenses for its pre-school animation Peppa Pig.

Party Plus has been signed for Peppa-branded party product, including paper plates and cups, napkins, table covers, party bags and invites. PMS International will produce a range of Peppa plush aimed at the amusement market.
