Concept One Accessories has acquired the Blue Marlin trademarks from New Blue Holdings.

Blue Marlin formed in 1994 and produced baseball hats honoring the teams of the Negro, Latin and Minor leagues from the early 20th century. Then in 1996, the company launched sportswear, including the classic "New York," "Brooklyn" and "Havana" zip-front jacket. Concept One was a former licensee for the brand for headwear.

"We plan to re-launch the classic SKUs for spring with key accounts and will keep the line very focused," says Sam Hafif, chief executive officer of Concept One Accessories. "There is a consumer who has actually collected Blue Marlin products as they were released and we want to make sure to keep the demand from that base strong. We are considering licensing categories that we won't produce in-house and are building our marketing plan now."

Concept One produces product for more than 65 licensors, including Levi's, Sean John and Rocawear. The company also owns a brand called Block Headwear, which it acquired in 2006.
