Classic Media celebrated the 30th anniversary of “Postman Pat” Sept. 16 with events, products and the start of production on a feature film, Postman Pat: The Movie–You Know You’re the One.

The film, which begins production this month, will be CG-animated in 3-D, and should arrive in theaters in 2013. Ralph Kamp’s Timeless Films will manage worldwide sales with Icon Film Distribution releasing the film in the U.K. and Ireland.

On Friday, CBeebies broadcast a special episode, “The Surprise Present;” and CBeebies Radio had a special party podcast for download from its website.

The Postman Pat character made a special appearance at the Postman Pat Village at Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Sept. 17-18.

Vue Cinemas will hold Postman Pat birthday screenings in the U.K. Sept. 24-25.

In addition, Universal released the Happy Birthday Pat DVD to stores last week, which features more than three hours of adventures plus a free CD with 15 sing-a-long tracks. 

Edgmont published a new book, Postman Pat: The Surprise Party, which builds on its range of 10-minute tales.

A new Postman Pat App from P2 Games is now available from the App store for iPhone and iPad.
