CBS Films has picked up the movie rights to the Deus Ex video game franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be based on the most recent game in the franchise, “Deus Ex: Human Revolution,” which is actually a prequel to the two previous Deus Ex games. CBS Films says it will work closely with Deus Ex developer Eidos-Montreal for the film adaptation.
The gaming series is set in a near future where scientific advances in human augmentation have triggered a technological renaissance. Ex-SWAT security specialist Adam Jensen, must embrace “mechanical augments” to bring down a global conspiracy.
The Deus Ex franchise has won more than 100 industry awards since it was first introduced in 2000.
