New York-based licensing agency Brandgenuity has announced the formation of a new division, Brandgenuity Consulting, to focus on assisting manufacturers with strategic brand and property acquisitions and the management of ongoing licensing relationships.
The division will be based in the company's New York headquarters and will be led by industry veteran Steven A. Cohen who will serve as president of the division.
“We are growing as an agency and are excited to now offer a full suite of inbound and outbound licensing services to clients,” says Jay Asher, partner, Brandgenuity. “Steven is known for his wide-ranging experience, his extensive relationships across the licensing industry, his keen eye and his creative, out-of-the box thinking. We feel he will be instantly invaluable both to companies well versed in licensing and also to those acquiring brands or properties for the first time.”
Brandgenuity Consulting will work hand-in-hand with manufacturers to strategically acquire appropriate, relevant and business-building brands and properties in a variety of categories.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Brandgenuity as they embark on this new facet of their licensing business,” says Cohen. “The key to acquisition is finding the right brand or property that will help a company accomplish its business goals. I’ll be watching the trends and monitoring the evergreen brands to bring the right customized solution to each client account.”
Until recently, Cohen served as vice president of licensing for CSS Industries. Prior to joining CSS, Cohen was vice president of Disguise where he led their entry into the licensing business. Cohen has also served on the board of The International Licensing Industry Merchandiser’s’ Association.
Cohen will be speaking at the Licensing University seminar “Advanced Licensing Strategies” at this year’s Licensing Expo, Wednesday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. Brandgenuity Consulting will be on-hand throughout the Expo in Booth 6162, June 12-14 in Las Vegas, Nev.
