About 500 Borders stores are stocking its shelves with Build-A-Bear Workshop plush products and more. In addition, the book retailer has upgraded its consumer loyalty programs.

Borders is launching dedicated Build-A-Bear sections, featuring the signature plush, as well as branded books and DVDs.

In other news, an updated loyalty program for Borders customers launches tomorrow. It features a free enhanced version, as well as a paid version. Both rewards programs offer exclusive in-store and online discounts, personal shopping day, free coffee, a free birthday gift and Borders Bucks. The free version will give members 30 percent off the list price of hardcover bestsellers and free shipping on online orders of $25 or more. Borders Rewards Plus, available for $20 a year, gives members 40 percent off the list price of hardcover bestsellers, 20 percent off the list price of select hardcovers, 10 percent off the purchase price of more items and free shipping on all online orders.

In celebration of

the launch, Borders is allowing members to earn Borders Bucks twice as fast. A member will earn $5 in Borders Bucks for every $75 they spend, beginning tomorrow until Sept. 6. Typically members receive $5 in Borders Bucks for every $150.
