Day one of Brand Licensing Europe opened today, buzzing with key licensing and retail players, as well as deals secured for current and upcoming properties.

Here are some highlights from today's show:

  • Saban Brands appointed international agents for the Power Rangers. They are Copyright Promotions Licensing Group for Western Europe, Kidz Entertainment for Scandinavia/Eastern Europe, Haven Licensing for Australia/New Zealand, Segal Licensing for Canada, Character Licensing & Marketing for South Africa, Exim Licensing for Latin America (excluding Mexico) and The Rutherford James Group for the Middle East.

    • Nickelodeon Consumer Products has teamed up with Hewlett-Packard to offer photo products worldwide featuring Nick characters, including Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. NCP also named Trudi Hayward vice president of the U.K. and Australia and relocated Jeremy Poreca from the New York offices to join the London team as director of international retail development.

      • Chorion welcomed new Little Miss character Little Miss Princess and revealed 40th anniversary plans for 2011 for the Mr Men and Little Miss brand, which will include a slew of limited-edition merchandise.

        • Zodiak Rights launched Qpiz, a worldwide multi-platform brand aimed at teen girls. The property is being developed into a series of animated shorts, an online world, a video game and publishing.

          • ITV Studios secured a number of new partners for primetime drama "Coronation Street," with product rollouts to coincide with the series' 50th anniversary. The new licensees include The Royal Mint, John Wood Nurseries, DMC Creative World, Kinnerton and Iron Gut Publishing.

            Brand Licensing Europe runs through Thursday at Olympia's Grand Hall in London.
