Platinum Films has appointed Biplano to build a licensing program for its series “Matt Hatter Chronicles” in Spain and Portugal, following new broadcast agreements in the region.

Biplano will manage licensing and merchandising and promotional rights for the property and plans to roll out product across multiple categories at the beginning of 2014.

The L&M program will follow the broadcast of the series in the region this year. Spanish public broadcaster RTVE will begin airing the show on its Clan TV network and Canal Panda will broadcast the series on Panda Biggs this spring in Portugal and in March in Spain.

“We are immensely proud to be launching ‘Matt Hatter’ with the best broadcasters in both Spain and Portugal and on the commercial side, our partnership with Biplano extends our global licensing and merchandising reach,” says Nigel Stone, chief executive officer, Platinum Films. “Biplano is an agency with an acute understanding of the licensing and retail market in Iberia and are renowned for developing innovative and exhaustive 360-degree licensing programs.”

The Iberian deals come hot on the heels of the recent product roll out in the U.K., which is being spearheaded by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
