Atlantyca Entertainment has announced a new partnership with Spain’s top daily newspaper, El País, to release a series of Bat Pat books in the country.

The deal, brokered by Random House Mondadori, will see El País offer its readers 15 Bat Pat tales beginning Sept. 30. Random House is creating new covers for the Castilian Spanish-language books being produced for the promotion.

The books will be sold separately from the newspaper, but will be supported by El País through national radio spots, as well as Internet and print advertising.

“The success of the Bat Pat character with young audiences in Spain simply conveys the pure allure of his charm,” says Carmen Castillo Bazan, foreign rights manager, Atlantyca. “Working with both Random House and the prestigious El País newspaper is an honor for us and reinforces Atlantyca’s commitment to realizing distinctive local promotions to support the brands we cherish so much.”

The Bat Pat stories are designed for young readers and feature spooky tales of witches, ghosts, monsters and vampires told by Bat Pat. The series is currently published in Italy, the U.S., France, Portugal, Hungary, Turkey, Brazil and China. Atlantyca Entertainment is also currently working on an animated Bat Pat TV series in partnership with Imira Entertainment and Malaysia’s Inspidea.
