Retailer plans new collection of Disney products called Magic For All.

Uniqlo is planning a global collaboration with Disney Consumer Products, dubbed Magic For All, that will include new products, pop-up displays and in-store and online customer experiences.

The partnership will feature Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar characters and imagery across a range of apparel and other products.

Uniqlo's relationship with DCP dates back to 2009, when the retailer launched its first collection of UTs (Uniqlo t-shirts) that featured Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Now the partners plan to extend their collaboration beyond t-shirts and sweat parkas as they introduce new LifeWear items beginning this fall. First products will range from down, fleece and flannel shirts to umbrellas, plush toys and other offerings featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. The line will then expand to include characters from Star Wars, Pixar Animation Studios’ Toy Story, Marvel’s Avengers and Disney’s Frozen.

“The Walt Disney Company prides itself on delivering magical experiences to fans of all ages, whether it’s at the movies, retail, our theme parks or at home,” says Paul Candland, president, the Walt Disney Company Asia. “Uniqlo shares our passion for storytelling, and we look forward to expanding our global collaboration creating unique experiences for fans to immerse themselves in the Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar brands.”

Uniqlo will debut the line in a pop-up store at the Disney fan expo D23 later this month in Anaheim, Calif. The retailer will also offer a limited edition UT featuring art by John Lasseter, chief creative officer, Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, at the event, as well as special edition Mickey plush toys. Additionally, Uniqlo is the official clothing partner of D23 and has provided Disney staff with UTs, polo shirts and jackets designed for the expo.

Then, at the end of September, a Magic For All concept store will open to the public in Shanghai. The shop will occupy the fifth floor of the Uniqlo Shanghai global flagship store, its largest retail footprint. Flagship and large-format stores around the world will also offer Disney, Marvel and Star Wars-themed products in Magic For All sections.

“I am thrilled at this opportunity to collaborate with Disney Consumer Products to lead the way in retail innovation," says Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Fast Retailing Co, owner of Uniqlo. "I look forward to bringing together LifeWear and the magic, excitement and adventure of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar to deliver enjoyment to customers all around the world through our products, customer service and shopping experience.”
