Liquid Apparel has debuted a new partnership with Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand tokidoki.
The launch collection—a 16-piece mix of apparel and accessories—brings to life Team Liquid’s mascot Blue in the tokidoki style, alongside classic characters such as Kaiju, Ninja Skater and Salaryman.
“Apparel at Team Liquid is all at once product, content and engagement,” says Logan Leavitt, apparel business manager, Team Liquid. “When we consider a collaboration within that framework, we’re looking for synergy in all three. With tokidoki, we found those elements in a shared spirit of fun, art and geek culture. As Liquid Apparel, we’ve taken our quality to the next level in 2020, and this partnership is an opportunity for us to put our best foot forward not only for TL fans, but for tokidoki fans as well.”
While tokidoki has had previous gaming collaborations, its partnership with Team Liquid is the brand’s first foray into esports. To celebrate, tokidoki’s characters will “take over” Team Liquid’s various digital channels, including a full-scale “invasion” of the two Team Liquid Alienware Training Facilities in Santa Monica, Calif. and Utrecht, The Netherlands. Liquid will also host an art contest giving fans the chance to win an Apple iPad and Apple Pencil.
“I've been a huge fan of Tokidoki for so many years now (I have shelves and shelves of blind box Unicornos), so being able to bring Tokidoki's signature whimsical and bold style to Team Liquid was both great fun and quite the challenge,” says Gabrielle Renfro, TKDK x TL lead apparel designer, Team Liquid. “This collection was also one of my first chances to create quality custom pieces unique to women, which has been a huge bucket list item for me here at Team Liquid. All the pieces coming to the store fit so nicely together, no matter what combinations you choose. I can't wait for everyone to get their hands on these pieces!”
