Brand owner to bring Canadian bottoms and accessories business in-house.

Perry Ellis International is taking back control of the Perry Ellis men's bottoms and accessories businesses in Canada.

The current license agreement with Grand National Apparel for those categories will end on Dec. 31, after which PEI will begin shipping products to its retail customers starting with spring 2016 deliveries in January 2016.

PEI plans to leverage its in-house men's sportswear operations to accelerate growth for the brand in Canada.

"While PEI appreciates the efforts and the fine work of Grand National, this is another step in achieving our strategic initiative to expand our profitable international direct business," says George Feldenkreis, chairman and chief executive officer, PEI. "Canada is a growing market for our company, and we believe we can leverage our Canadian platform and serve our customer base directly within our core competencies."
