Iconix Brand Group Announces New Limited-Edition Zoo York Line

Iconix Brand Group Announces New Limited-Edition Zoo York Line
Classic skateboard brand is under new management courtesy of the company’s original founders.

Iconix Brand Group has tapped the founders of Zoo York for a limited-edition product line inspired by the brand’s history.

Available exclusively on Zoo York’s Instagram channel and ZooYork.com, the line includes a dad hat and t-shirt inspired by the “Zoo York Mixtape” from 1997,  a t-shirt similar to what was worn by the skaters in the film “Kids,” a long-sleeve t-shirt inspired and signed by founder Eli Morgan Gesner.

In addition to creating limited-edition items, Zoo York founders will also provide ongoing design direction to licensees and partners around the world. Original founders Rodney Smith, Gesner and Adam Schatz are starting with a re-branding that will take Zoo York back to its original logo, featuring a font the founders first saw during a meeting in the Empire State Building, a nod to the brand’s New York City roots. The trio will also work with Zoo York on brand storytelling as well as content creation by tapping into their network of collaborators, including skate photographer Giovanni Reda.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to do many extraordinary things in my career,” says Gesner. “But coming home to Zoo York is, at once, the most exciting and, at the same time, the most comforting. I am home.”

Zoo York’s founders were hired earlier this year for brand support.
