Her Universe Plans Geek Couture Event

Her Universe and Hot Topic are teaming to host a "geek couture" fashion show and design competition at Comic-Con.

Sci-fi fashion apparel brand Her Universe and Hot Topic are teaming to host a "geek couture" fashion show and design competition at this year’s Comic-Con International.

Fans and amateur designers can submit their own women's fashion designs based on anything that is celebrated at Comic-Con from now through April 4.

Set to take place July 24 during the comic book and pop culture convention, the event will feature a runway show of the top 30 designs.

Hot Topic will be provide two grand prizes for the winning fashion designers, one of which will be an opportunity to co-design an exclusive Her Universe fashion collection for the fashion retailer alongside Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein.

"Fangirls are already using the halls of San Diego Comic-Con International as their runway to showcase custom fashions,” says Eckstein. “We wanted to give these designers a bigger stage to share their talent and also provide an educational experience in the fashion industry.”
