Former soccer star David Beckham has signed a deal with Safilo for a collection of sunglasses and prescription eyewear.

The deal will see Beckham work with the company to develop glasses over the 10-year course of their contract together. He will join the likes of previous Safilo eyewear collaborators such as Fendi, Givenchy and Rebecca Minkoff.

“Safilo has a long history of creating high-quality eyewear brands,” says Beckham. “I wear sunglasses all the time, and this is a category that I love. So, it’s important to me to work with a partner who cares as much about the design and craftsmanship of the product as I do.”

The first items from the Beckham and Safilo partnership are expected to debut in 2020.
