AAL will look to develop a comprehensive licensing program of branded products based on Stan Lee including his name, likeness, signature and famous catchphrases and trademarks, such as “Excelsior!” POW! Entertainment has several style guides, which AAL will offer to licensees in connection with the agency’s multitier licensing opportunities. The agency has already identified new partners such as Madame Tussauds, which is creating a brand-new Stan Lee figure set to debut in late 2019/early 2020.
Lee-related merchandise creates $1 billion in revenue annually. As the creator of many successful Marvel characters, Lee was beloved by comic fans the world over. He has a growing fan base of close to 22 million followers on social media, and his name appears on more than 2 billion books worldwide. Lee passed away late last year.
“At Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment, we don’t have a strategy–we have a mission, and
is a co-production between Genius Brands, Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment and Schwarzenegger’s Oak Productions. The series was created by Lee and serves as his final project.
