Olympia Le-Tan, a luxury clutch brand, has released an exclusive collection with the estate of artist, Tom Wesselmann. This collection is being unveiled through a series of three drops, each showcasing unique, art-inspired clutches that pay homage to Wesselmann's celebrated works.
The collection features a total of 14 clutches, including many of its iconic Book Clutches, as well as other unique shapes such as the Caviar and the 7inch.
Wesselmann, a prominent figure in the American Pop Art scene of the 1960s, remains influential in pop culture today with his bold and monumental artworks. By integrating everyday objects and advertising elements into his vibrant depictions of classical subjects – nudes, still lifes, and landscapes – he celebrated the simple joys of daily life, bringing a contemporary twist to traditional themes. This daring approach resonates deeply with Olympia Le-Tan's own spirit, which celebrates the transgressive and the unconventional. Both Wesselmann's art and Le-Tan's designs challenge norms and embrace a bold, unapologetic aesthetic, making this collaboration a perfect synergy of rebellious creativity.
The first and second part of the collection were released in April and July. The third and last drop will be celebrated alongside the Wesselmann retrospective at the Fondation Louis Vuitton starting October 16, 2024 in Paris. This exhibition will provide a magnificent backdrop, allowing art enthusiasts to experience Wesselmann's original masterpieces until March 3, 2025.
"We are incredibly excited to work with Tom Wesselmann’s Estate on this unique collection," says Gregory Bernard, co-founder, Olympia Le-Tan. "Each clutch is a labor of love, reflecting the bold, colorful essence of Wesselmann's work. We can't wait for our customers and Wesselmann enthusiasts to experience this collection."
The collection is available on Olympialetan.com and via the international retailers Moda Operandi, Zalando, Capitol, Selfridges, Bliss Multibrand and Manhattan South.
