Australian accessory label, Glomesh, has teamed up with PAC-MAN to release a limited collection.
Characters from the game have been recreated in classic 8-bit graphics and embedded into Glomesh’s pixel-like signature mesh.
Working with Bandai Namco Europe to design the collection, Daniel Goldberg, chief executive officer, Glomesh, had the idea when he was reminiscing about growing up in Sydney. “I grew up in that era of the arcade,” says Goldberg. “I grew up playing those exact games. It struck me one day that the pixelated nature of our mesh would make the perfect backdrop for PAC-MAN’s iconic characters and symbols. There is a definite nostalgia for ’80s arcade culture right now, and PAC-MAN is the ultimate arcade game.”
“PAC-MAN has always been a brand that resonates across generations,” says Aâdil Tayouga, licensing and business strategy director, Bandai Namco Europe. “We are really pleased by the result of our collaboration with Glomesh, reflecting the timelessness of both brands and their relevance into a constantly evolving fashion world.”
The collection is over one year in the making. Glomesh designers worked with the PAC-MAN team to ensure close alignment with its design style guide. This has resulted in exact pixel ratio depictions of characters and symbols, including BLINKY, INKY, PINKY, CLYDE, the Cherries and PAC-MAN.
“All character features are meticulously hand-joined in the exact pixel ratio and Pantone color,” says Goldberg. “The characters are then embedded into the mesh panel. This slow and artisanal process ensures exact re-creation of the game’s graphics. This is truly a limited collection and we’re excited to offer this to our customer base.”
The Glomesh x PAC-MAN collection went on sale online July 14.
