The Jim Henson Company, Julie Andrews and Netflix have joined forces to launch “Julie’s Greenroom,” a new preschool series that will focus on the performing arts.

Andrews, who created the series with her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton and Judy Rothman-Rof?, will executive produce as well as star as Ms. Julie–the director of the Wellspring Center for the Performing Arts where she teachers workshops in the theater and its “Greenroom.”

The new series will focus on Ms. Julie and her assistant Gus as they bring a range of performing arts to a new generation of children known as “Greenies,” which are played by original puppet characters built by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

“This project represents the fulfillment of a long held dream to educate children about the wonder of the arts,” says Andrews. “I am thrilled to be partnering with my daughter and long time coauthor, Emma, to bring this show to life along with our co-creator, and Judy Rothman-Rof?. We could not be more honored to be working with the extraordinary Jim Henson Company. We are equally delighted to be premiering as a Netflix original production.”

Additionally, most of the episodes will feature an original song and every episode will feature a guest star that will engage the Greenies in a specific area of the performing arts. Confirmed guest stars include Alec Baldwin, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Bell, Tituss Burgess, Josh Groban, Idina Menzel and Bill Erwin, among others.

“The best of the best have joined together to bring ‘Julie’s Greenroom’ to Netflix,” says Lisa Henson, chief executive officer, The Jim Henson Company. “Our award-winning director, Tony-nominated puppeteers, Broadway composer and accomplished guest artists, led by the incomparable Julie Andrews, together will inspire kids to explore, appreciate and celebrate all forms of the performing arts.”

“Julie’s Greenroom” is slated to premiere globally on Netflix early next year.
